As we get started with Summer Tech Camp, please think about the questions below and post your reflections by clicking the Comments link below this post.
1. What are your expectations for Summer Tech Camp 2008?
2. After experiencing your first day at Summer Tech Camp and considering what you've seen and heard so far, when, if ever, do you think it's appropriate to replace a face-to-face experience with a live virtual experience?

I expect to learn new techniques/technologies to better engage my students in learning. I plan to teach my Family Sociology class this summer as a hybrid.
I expect to learn ways to create easily navigatable hybrid courses.
I would like to learn the various technology-based tools that can be used in a hybrid course, as well as discuss appropriate pedagogical strategies to optimize learning in this type of environment.
I want to share information on the many different types of technology and learn from everyone's experiences. It helps me to talk to people face to face to learn about the different ways to enhance my teaching and courses.
I expect to feel more secure in trying out new technologies in delivery of courses.
As others have said, I want to learn new technology tools that are easy for me and my students to use.
Since I teach a VERY hands on course, "Creative Arts and Expression", I hope to learn how to use interactive computer technology in order to enhance my students ability to access information and share ideas. Hopefully this will enhance their ability to "go places, experiment, discover, use their creative imagination, and experiment with all the arts that we explore in class".
I also hope to learn and communicate this new information to the faculty that teach in my program so that hybrid courses can be offered comfortably.

I expect to learn how to develop a more productive hybrid class, balancing and building upon each session whether face to face or online.
Day is at an end. I became more excited as we exchanged information on actual practices and troubleshooting.
I see the possibilities of having discussions online although I find reading them to be more and more challenging.
Ironically, I continue to be skeptical about the practice potentials of virtual technology. Fortunately, I am open.
even though everyone's expectations are different, i think the camp will be beneficial to all in that everyone will be able to see what technologies are available and pick & choose what to use for their own courses.
